As many young and aging citizens will agree, Buena Vista is a beautiful venue. The staff is lovely and the "terrain park", as some may call it, is exceptional. But, there are some aspects as well as difficulties one cannot simply overlook without certain disappointment. These troublesome views include those such as: a particularly nasty odor in select areas, a number of unprofessional stickers on the chairlifts, a thin layer of ice on the runs that makes your skis rattle such as the ferocious wind disturbs the waves, and the fact still quite sadly remains that two of their three total chairlifts remain of service. Quite a few variations of positive things still cling tight to this long lasting site. The café inside the chalet of the premises is somewhat pricey for a ski resort of such a location, but serves food that will delight ones taste buds after a day in the frigid grasp of the outdoors. A fire is delightfully available for the use of drying a pair of gloves that are thoroughly soaked through with the remains of melted snow, and a quaint little hill is provided for the little ones who have yet to learn the wondrous joys of skiing down the steeper inclines of the Continental Divide (yet none of these runs are suitable for experts such as myself). Overall, I would recommend one to visit the entertaining, warm atmosphere of the resort they call Buena Vista.
The staff is quite lovely, and their

Buena Vista will suit any skill level. The runs are nice, sort of short but not for Minnesota! Their terrain park has lots of rails, and a couple of big fun jumps. Bring your family out! I loved Buena Vista. There's always something new to do! (And if you are afraid to ski, they also have tubing!)
Nice snow, sweet terrain park, big chalet with great food, for a good price!
I honestly can't think of any
I have been here a few times in the last few weeks and cant stress enough on how wonderful the staff is. The grounds are very clean and makes you feel that you are at the top of northern Minnesota. The food at the cafe is fast and delicious, you can sit and eat while listening to some wonderful live piano music. They have many hills at BV for Beginners all the way up to the insane speed junkies. There equipment is up-to-date and they have all sizes for everyone. My son got his first lesson from this wonderful lady who was able to really teach him the fundamentals of skiing. There chalet is big and makes you feel like you are at home, they always have a fire going and its always nice to finish a day on the hill with a nice hot coco snugged up with my wife in front of the fireplace. I cant wait to come back to Buena Vista and i recommend it to everyone!
Fun, Family orientated, Great food, wonderful piano music, great tubing, wonderful view, good place for groups
Nothing
I have skied Buena Vista a number of times and have really enjoyed it. The chalet is old fashioned and filled with nice people ready to get you skiing, feed you when hungry (good food prepared fast) and even play holiday music for you on the piano. The runs are short but varied. The atmosphere is great. There is a good mix of young and old so you will feel at home no matter what your age or skill level. BV is nicely laid out so beginning skiers tend to ski one area and more experienced skiers are on a much bigger area. Both areas offer some variety which seems to nicely keep the lift lines running without much wait time. A local group of ski enthusiasts have started Nastar Skiing so you can challenge yourself by racing a slalom for time. Your times are compared with others locally, statewide and nationally. It is all about fun and the skiing.
Buena Vista has a friendly and competent staff. The Nastar skiing is a blast.
I just wish the runs were longer but they are varied.
